How to Maintain the Wigs

13Mar 2024 CNG wigs

Maintenance is essential to ensure that wigs retain their quality, appearance, and longevity. Whether you have synthetic or human hair wigs, proper care and attention will keep them looking their best for as long as possible. Here's a guide to maintaining your wigs:

Synthetic Wigs:

  1. Brushing: Use a wig brush or wide-tooth comb to gently detangle the hair, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots.

  2. Washing: Fill a basin with cold water and add a small amount of wig shampoo. Submerge the wig and gently swish it around. Rinse thoroughly with cold water.

  3. Drying: Pat the wig with a towel to remove excess water, then place it on a wig stand to air dry. Avoid wringing or squeezing the wig, as this can damage the fibres.

  4. Styling: Once the wig is dry, use heat-resistant styling tools on low heat settings to achieve desired styles. Avoid using high heat, as synthetic fibres can melt or become damaged.

  5. Storage: When not in use, store the wig on a wig stand or in its original packaging to help maintain its shape and prevent tangling.

Human Hair Wigs:

  1. Brushing: Use a wig brush or wide-tooth comb to gently detangle the hair, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots.

  2. Washing: Wash the wig with a mild shampoo and conditioner specifically formulated for human hair. Gently massage the shampoo into the hair, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

  3. Conditioning: Apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner to the ends of the wig to keep them soft and hydrated.

  4. Drying: Gently squeeze out excess water from the wig, then pat it dry with a towel. Place the wig on a wig stand to air dry, avoiding direct heat sources.

  5. Styling: Human hair wigs can be styled using heat styling tools, just like natural hair. To prevent damage, use heat-protectant products and avoid excessive heat.

  6. Maintenance: Trim the ends of the wig regularly to prevent split ends and maintain a healthy appearance. Consider professional maintenance services for intricate styling or colour treatments.

General Tips:

  • Avoid exposing wigs to high temperatures, such as direct sunlight or hot styling tools, as this can damage the fibres.

  • Use specially formulated wig care products to maintain the integrity of the hair and prevent buildup.

  • Handle wigs with care to avoid tangling or pulling on the fibres.

  • Store wigs away from dust, moisture, and pets to keep them clean and fresh.

By following these maintenance tips, you can ensure that your wigs remain in excellent condition and continue to enhance your look for years to come.
